Diabetes Blog Week: One Thing to Improve

Diabetes Blog Week

Today has been a bit busier than normal.....so we'll see how this post goes!  I've been going nonstop since I woke up this morning, doing research, giving a tour, and then singing at a concert this evening.  So!  Today's prompt for DBlog Week asks us what is one thing that we can improve on in our diabetes management.

I am going to try very hard to focus on just one thing, because it seems that there are dozens of things I can say in response.  See, for example, how hard it was yesterday for me to find something I do well!

Hmmmmmmmm......just one thing?

I need to try to be more positive.  As I've mentioned before, these last several weeks have been more challenging than normal in terms of diabetes, and it's really affected my attitude.  I get angry at my meter far too often.  I rant to my poor husband every time an injection site bleeds.

I need to focus on the things I'm doing right.  I carb count.  I don't snack between meals (since that would mean another injection).  I do actually give myself insulin as needed.  And I complain about all of these things.  So much for behaving myself, since I ruin it with negativity so often.

Of course, these aren't things I complain about to any stranger on the street who will listen.  Instead, I complain to my biggest supporter in this D-Life, my sweet, sweet husband.

And I need to stop.  Or at least not do it so often.  Then everyone around here will be just a little happier.
